Graeme McDowell wins the Andalucia Valderrama Masters
Northern Ireland player, Graeme McDowell, managed the wind and the pressure better than anyone else to win the Valderrama Masters on Sunday. His card ended with 281, three under par.
He started the last day’s play sharing the lead with his compatriot, Gareth Maybin on six under par, but the weather was far from favourable on the last day. Second place was a tie between Maybin and the Danish player Soren Kjeldsen, the last winner of the now defunct Volvo Masters played at the club.
Lee Westwood is now World Number One thanks to the results from the Cádiz course, ending Tiger Wood’s 281 week reign. German Martin Kaymer needed a top two finish at Valderrama to become number one himself, but ended Sunday’s fourth round well off the lead at seven over.
